Senior Triage Automation Engineer
Wayve · Sunnyvale, California
Before the detail, here's the challenge you'd help us solve.
We build the embodied intelligence that moves real vehicles safely, and the ecosystem a billion machines will run on in the future. Very few people in AI can say this. Every role here, whatever the team, plugs into that.
Here’s what this particular role covers.
🛠️ ABOUT OUR ENGINEERING TEAMS
Wayve’s engineering teams are building the AI, robotics, simulation, data, and systems foundations needed to deploy a generalisable AI Driver safely and at scale.
ABOUT TRIAGE
The Triage and Detective Engineering teams identify, understand, and help resolve issues across Wayve’s test and on-road fleets. This role scales that work by turning repeated manual investigation into reliable automation, reusable tooling, and measurable workflows.
🧠 YOUR DAY-TO-DAY
- Observe, document, and measure current Triage and Detective workflows to identify high-value automation opportunities.
- Build automation pipelines, triage bots, behavioural classifiers, and workflow tooling.
- Partner with Detective Engineers to turn one-off scripts into robust, reusable tools.
- Validate automation accuracy, reliability, suggested classifications, and root-cause outputs.
- Document each automation’s purpose, operation, expected outputs, and limitations.
- Track triage quality and throughput to demonstrate impact and guide the roadmap.
- Join regular triage and calibration sessions to stay close to the work being automated.
🧩 WHAT YOU’LL BE WORKING ON
- Business-critical tooling used by Triage Specialists and Detective Engineers every week.
- Automation that reduces manual analysis and accelerates issue identification across autonomous-vehicle fleets.
- Productised pipelines spanning Python, SQL, Bash, Linux, notebooks, cloud tooling, and issue-management systems.
- Cross-functional problems at the intersection of safety, machine learning, software engineering, and operations.
🙌 YOU SHOULD APPLY IF
- You have 3+ years working with complex technical systems, ideally in robotics or autonomous vehicles.
- You are strong in Python, SQL, and Bash or shell scripting and comfortable in remote Linux environments.
- You have built or maintained data pipelines, notebooks, or cloud-triggered automation.
- You can take an ambiguous manual process, decide what is worth automating, and own delivery end-to-end.
- You communicate technical problems clearly and work effectively with both technical and non-technical partners.
- Experience with Jira, Confluence, Bitbucket or GitLab, Databricks or Jupyter is valuable; ML classifiers, web tooling, or Azure experience is a plus.
🌱 Not ticking every box? That’s totally okay! If you’re passionate about autonomy and keen to learn, we encourage you to apply even if you don’t meet every requirement.

If that sounds like the kind of problem you want to spend your time on, we’d really like to hear from you.
