Are you an environmental compliance professional ready to make a measurable impact on the ground at Amazon facilities? As environmental regulations evolve across Europe — including the EU Energy Efficiency Directive being transposed into national law — we are expanding our Environmental Assurance and Protection (EAP) team to keep pace. In this field-based role you will be the on-site environmental compliance expert for the Middle Europe region, covering Germany, the Netherlands, Poland, Czechia, Slovakia, and Austria. You will work directly at facilities to ensure compliance across all environmental media — energy, air emissions, stormwater, waste management, and wastewater discharge — turning regulatory requirements into clear, practical guidance for site teams.

This is an individual contributor role reporting to the Regional Environmental Leader for Middle Europe. You will work closely with operations leadership and the Workplace Health and Safety organization to embed environmental compliance into daily site operations. As you grow, you can expect to move from hands-on field delivery to leading compliance programs across a broader set of sites and topics, with a clear path toward owning compliance areas across Europe or stepping into a team leadership position.

Key job responsibilities
- Ensure compliance with EU directives and country-specific environmental regulations across energy, air emissions, stormwater, waste management, and wastewater discharge programs at facilities in Germany, the Netherlands, Poland, Czechia, Slovakia, and Austria.
- Conduct on-site environmental risk assessments, identify and prioritize gaps, and develop site-specific mitigation plans using ISO 14001 and ISO 50001 frameworks
- Work with operations leadership and the Workplace Health and Safety organization to integrate environmental compliance requirements into daily workflows and training at each facility
- Interpret and apply EU directives and country-specific regulations, coordinating with Legal on permit applications, regulatory inquiries, and authority submissions
- Build repeatable compliance mechanisms across facilities, track key performance indicators, and report results to internal stakeholders

A day in the life
Much of your time will be spent on-site at facilities across the Middle Europe region, with the balance dedicated to desk-based compliance work. A typical morning might involve reviewing compliance data in Microsoft Office tools and preparing guidance for an upcoming audit, while the afternoon could see you at a facility walking the local team through air emissions monitoring or new energy reporting requirements. You will regularly work with Legal to engage regulators and with site leaders to roll out environmental training. Priorities shift as new regulations take effect or urgent compliance questions come up, so the ability to adapt quickly is important.

About the team
The Environmental Assurance and Protection team is a group of environmental compliance experts and program managers responsible for regulatory compliance across a large and growing portfolio of Amazon sites in the Middle Europe Region. We work side by side with local operations teams and the Workplace Health and Safety organization to keep every facility aligned with applicable environmental regulations. Our current focus is supporting the rollout of the EU Energy Efficiency Directive into national law, and we are expanding to meet that challenge. If you are excited about joining an inclusive team where your environmental expertise directly protects communities and shapes how Amazon operates, we would like to hear from you.
