AWS Professional Services helps financial services customers accelerate cloud transformation and realize business value from AWS. The Principal Account Executive (PAE) is the strategic commercial owner for Professional Services across a portfolio of global financial services accounts. You will identify, shape, and win the largest, most complex Professional Services engagements, leading executive relationships, commercial structuring, and delivery quality from first pursuit through signature and into execution. You will own top-deal pursuits, build net-new pipeline across banking, capital markets, insurance, and payments customers, and convert large-deal pipeline into bookings.
Key job responsibilities
- Own the Professional Services commercial strategy and relationship for a portfolio of strategic global financial services accounts.
- Identify, shape, and close large, complex transformation engagements, including fixed-price deals that require financial structuring.
- Build C-level and SVP relationships and open new buying centers where Professional Services has no prior footprint.
- Lead end-to-end proposals: executive engagement, technical solutioning, commercial structuring, and coordination across Sales, delivery, partners, Legal, and Finance.
- Steward delivery quality after signature to protect customer outcomes and engagement margin.
- Drive thought leadership on data, generative AI, migration and modernization, and product engineering.
A day in the life
You will work directly with financial services customers at the executive level, with AWS account teams, and with Professional Services delivery, partner, Legal, and Finance colleagues. On a given day you might shape a large migration proposal, structure commercial terms for a fixed-price engagement, align AWS and customer executives on a transformation roadmap, and review delivery health on an active program. You will decide independently which opportunities to pursue and how to structure them, and brief leadership on your plan.

AWS Professional Services works with customers to achieve their business outcomes using AWS. In Global Financial Services, the team supports banks, capital markets firms, insurers, and payments companies through large-scale migration, modernization, data, and generative AI transformations. The team values deep customer trust, high standards, and measurable outcomes.
Basic qualifications
- Experience in a customer-facing role, engaging with customer executives, technologists or partners to solve business problems with advanced technologies
- Experience negotiating complex deals with customers and partners or equivalent
- Experience engaging and influencing C-level executives, both business and technical
- Bachelor's degree in a relevant field or equivalent work experience
- Experience with commercial agreements
Preferred qualifications
- Experience architecting, migrating, transforming or modernizing customer requirements to the cloud
- Experience in the financial services industry
- Experience in English and German writing and editing with a strong command of grammar, punctuation, and style
