Operations Designer, Operations Design Team

Amazon · Barcelona, Catalonia

Amazon's Global Engineering Services (GES) is seeking an experienced Operations Designer to join the International Operations Design Team (ODT). This individual will be responsible for leading composite design delivery for a portfolio of fulfillment center projects within the EMEA network.

The Operations Designer owns the end-to-end design collaboration process within their assigned portfolio (defined by building type or technical capability), ensuring high quality of deliverables, standards applicability and quantities compliance of composites. They participate actively from Concept Design phase (REVO) through As-built, identifying challenges and influencing their resolution before composite initiation.

The ideal candidate will have strong experience in warehouse/logistics design using BIM and CAD tools, with a detail-oriented and data-driven mindset. They will possess problem-solving skills and knowledge of operations processes, design dependencies and execution for construction and fit-out environments. The role requires an 80% tactical / 20% strategic focus, with the designer addressing innovation (clash detection) and value engineering opportunities while supporting cost and speed-to-serve objectives.

The role will be based in Poland, with travel expected for up to 50% of the time depending on the project portfolio

Key job responsibilities
You will lead the full design coordination lifecycle for a portfolio of fulfillment center projects, managing architectural, mechanical handling equipment, and mechanical/electrical/plumbing models with vendors to deliver detailed design packages on time and within specification

You will coordinate warehouse layout designs — from complex machinery placement to floor markings — collaborating with internal and external stakeholders to identify requirements and resolve design challenges from concept through as-built phases

You will assess and communicate project design status to relevant stakeholders and forums, fostering collaboration across programs to address inconsistencies and deliver consistent execution across all sites in your portfolio

You will support field teams by providing layout designs that solve on-site challenges, while tracking the resolution of design issues and facilitating timely design reviews to meet regulatory compliance

You will contribute to the standard design library and drive continuous improvement activities, identifying opportunities to enhance quality and efficiency across the design process
