Strategic Engagement Mgr, Europe South AGS

Amazon · Milan, Lombardy

The Strategic Engagement Leader is a senior individual contributor and the Europe South Area Sales Director's strategic right hand for the Enterprise (ENT) and Public Sector (PS) business. The role exists to extend the Area Sales Director's reach and effectiveness: turning strategic intent into coordinated action across the sales organisation, keeping the most important priorities moving, and creating leverage so the leader can focus on where they add the most value. It is a broad, trusted role that sits close to the leader rather than a narrow specialist one, and it operates through influence, not through a management chain.

Key job responsibilities
A central part of the role is strategic deal engagement. The Strategic Engagement Leader helps the team crack the portfolio's most difficult deals by engaging on the highest-complexity pursuits (multi-party, cross-segment, CxO-level) where senior air cover, deal strategy, or executive credibility is needed to unlock progress. This is done through the team, not around them; the role does not own accounts and demonstrates impact by assisting in unblocking deals across the portfolio.
Beyond individual deals, the role orchestrates the priorities and operating rhythm of the ENT and PS business on the Area Sales Director's behalf. This includes preparing the leader for key customer, partner, and internal engagements; following through on the decisions and commitments that come out of them; connecting workstreams that span multiple teams; and making sure the right people are aligned and the right actions are progressing between formal reviews. The role represents the Area Sales Director in selected forums and carries context across the organisation so that execution does not stall.
The role also drives sales best practices operationally, cascading expectations rather than managing performance. It sets the bar on deal qualification, pipeline discipline, account-planning rigour, and competitive execution standards, while sales managers remain accountable for delivering against those standards. It acts as a bridge between Europe South field execution and EMEA-level best practices, connecting with the EMEA partner and specialist organisations (for example the EMEA PDM organisation and the WWSO GTM specialists) to import and localise proven co-sell motions, including the Anthropic and OpenAI partner motions where multi-party orchestration is most valuable.
This is an influence role. Authority comes from expertise, credibility, and the Area Sales Director's mandate, not from a management chain, and its leverage comes from raising the whole organisation's execution bar. Success depends on trust, judgement, and the ability to operate across organisational boundaries, and the role must be protected from being pulled into day-to-day operational execution so that it stays focused on the priorities that matter most to the Area Sales Director.
